Student Competition Winners
1st Place
Tara Ferris
School of Design and Architecture

Concept
The concept behind my artwork is accessibility and connection through technology. It is a hopeful artwork about reducing the barriers to education. There is a connective flow starting at the University and then running through students, teachers, and technology in multiple directions and in different abstract forms to illustrate this idea. Paths split up and reconverge to show the non linear way that information can travel with new technologies. The piece is bright and full of movement to show the exciting potential of what’s to come.

Concept
My concepts portrays a future where students of all ages will have the freedom to learn, engaging with learning across a multifaceted and overlapping educational landscape. Promoting a sense of relaxation and approachability, the outcome endeavours to appeal to the personal experience and sensibilities of students. The primary visual elements are centred around trees and fruit, elements evocative of the branching pathways that shape the student’s journey through education and life.
